Global Voices for an End to Harmful Fisheries Subsidies in 2021: WTO fisheries negotiations – is there light at the end of the tunnel?
The webinar takes place two weeks before the long-awaited World Trade Organization Special Ministerial Meeting convened by WTO Director General, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to break the deadlock of negotiations for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 Target 6 (SDG14.6) – the elimination of fisheries subsidies contributing to overfishing, overcapacity and illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.

Moderated by Gemma Parkes, Communications Lead at Friends of Ocean Action, this webinar will feature a selection of stakeholders who have been actively involved in aspects of the discussion at some point over the last twenty years to share their experiences, frustrations, hopes and unique perspectives with regards to action on this critical issue. This will be followed by a Q&A with questions from participants.
